Soneva Fushi

The original barefoot-luxury island.

A pioneering Baa Atoll retreat set across a jungle-covered natural island, with vast private villas, imaginative dining and extraordinary experiences for families and couples.

About the Resort

The original barefoot-luxury island.

The original barefoot-luxury island.

Soneva Fushi pioneered the Maldives’ barefoot-luxury movement when it opened in 1995. Set on a large, jungle-covered natural island within the UNESCO-listed Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve, it combines castaway simplicity with exceptionally spacious beach and overwater villas, each attended by a dedicated Barefoot Guardian.

The experience is imaginative and deeply personal, with treetop dining, an open-air cinema, an observatory, a glass studio and one of the Maldives’ most ambitious children’s spaces. Guests explore sandy paths by bicycle, dine without formality and follow Soneva’s signature “No News, No Shoes” philosophy. Despite its relaxed appearance, the service, privacy and attention to detail remain firmly ultra-luxury.
